Three types of EDFA cards have been designed to increase the capabilities of standard DWDM transceivers. They operate in the C band, and thanks to gain control, the output power can be adjusted to the needs of the network.
Amplifiers differ in terms of parameters (input, output power, gain) and can be mounted in an active GBC enclosure. Management is performed via SNMP or WEB GUI using an NMU card. SOA amplifiers are also available – semiconductor, compact, flexible in application.
Types of EDFA amplifiers
Booster – amplifies the output signal at the beginning of the route, increasing the range of the system.
In-Line – maintains signal strength during long transmission distances.
Pre-Amp – amplifies the signal received at the end of the route, improving the sensitivity of the receiver.
